Recovery of a Famine Village
Clare Museum and Clare County Archives are heading up a project utilising their resources to engage with the community for the development of an authentic heritage experience.
A famine village is set to be identified and over a period of five years, with targeted excavations conducted to shed light on life in mid-19th century Clare.
This is a multi-disciplinary approach to research and interpretation that will involve community groups. A radar scan survey is being carried out on the potential site in 2019, with a test trench excavation organised for August to determine future areas for investigation.
