Clare Arts Office embarked on a ground breaking music project with the Irish Memory Orchestra and 3L, an online music education resource aimed at empowering and supporting visually impaired musicians.

Dave Flynn, composer and founder of the Irish Memory Orchestra, was commissioned by the Arts Office to write 'The Vision Symphony' a music symphony exploring vision and its meaning to those with perfect vision and those who are visually impaired. Dave is a highly regarded musician nationally and internationally renowned for fusing classical and traditional music.

Brian McGill of 3L will work with Dave in developing a unique digital and technical approach to music education, through braille and audio learning which enabled visually impaired musicians perform the symphony with the Irish Memory Orchestra. As The Irish Memory Orchestra is the only orchestra that works from memory, with no sheet music on stage, it is particularly suited to visually impaired musicians who in many instances work from memory also.

The world premiere of the Vision Symphony was held in glór, Ennis in October 26th 2019 to rapturous acclaim.
