A place of unspoilt beauty, unmatched character and dynamic culture, Leitrim boasts a strong network of communities rich with artists, writers, actors, filmmakers, dancers and musicians, and one of the highest percentages of creative sector employment in the country.
An impressive range of creatives have called Leitrim home; explorer and naturalist Thomas Heazle Parke, journalist Paul Williams, actor Patrick McGoohan, actor and playwright Donal O’Kelly, author John McGahern, comedian Katherine Lynch, and 19th century poet John McDonald can all be traced to the county, and the proclivity of its citizens toward music, visual art, craft and literature forms a cultural wellspring the products of which reach into every community within its borders.
