Wicklow, or the Garden of Ireland, is renowned for its unique cultural nous and idyllic, inspirational landscape. Known on the world stage for its vast contribution to film and media production, Wicklow’s Culture and Creativity Strategy recognises the value of the arts and their great potential impact on citizens.
With the Creative Ireland programme centred around the themes of identity, culture and citizenship, Wicklow’s part in the initiative’s five-year journey began with a host of creative plans in 2017. Local Authorities are an invaluable focal point in community engagement and Creative Ireland has invited all Local Authorities to lead the engagement and expression of their citizens via the development of a Culture and Creativity Strategy.
Wicklow’s Culture and Creativity Strategy recognises the value of the arts and their great potential impact on citizens.
Some of Wicklow’s initiatives include enhancements of existing events and festivals like Bray Jazz Festival and Calary Music Festival, while others represent concerted efforts to promote creativity via the county’s arts and heritage facilities like Mermaid Arts Centre, Music Generation Wicklow and Russborough House.
