Young children (from 3rd Class upwards) are encouraged to visit local Eco Tourism/Heritage attractions within their county to:
1. Learn about the attractions importance as part of built, natural and cultural heritage.
2. Raise Awareness of Climate Change issues
3. Create some Visual Art to depict their learning from the day
In this way reducing the Carbon Footprint of the school and encouraging the children to learn and create through natural resources which they will collect from their onsite visit.
The Roscommon Culture and Creativity Strategy 2018-2022 outlines the need to "continue to support and protect our rich and diverse built and natural heritage in partnership with the community" and to "ensure that children and young people have increased access to tuition, experience and participation in the arts, heritage and library services by 2022"
On the success of this inaugural RECO we would hope to expand and develop the reach and audience in the coming years.
