THE WOOD FOR THE TREES is a festival exploring and celebrating nature writing. It is a collaborative project with the Heritage Office where writers and poets will discuss nature and bio-diversity in its diverse forms.
This day-long event in Lough Key Interpretative Centre (the Events Room) and will feature readings and talks by three nature writers/broadcasters and two nature poets, as well as a guided woodland walk, presentations by two leading Irish NGOs working in the area of nature/wildlife/biodiversity and an end-of-day panel discussion with audience participation
As part of the event an open call is being issued for poets to submit their works on the theme of nature and biodiversity. Those who have been successful will join the event to recite their poems.
This will be Roscommon's first every nature writing festival.
