Music Generation Louth

Louth

The site of An Táin Bó Cúailnge, the ancient tale from early Irish literature, a place with a long-held lineage to the Irish language, Omeath was the very last Irish-speaking part of Leinster, and a county with a proud tradition of poetry and music, Louth’s Creative Ireland Culture and Creativity Plan sees the culture, passion and strength of its community harnessed for all to enjoy.

With the Creative Ireland programme centred around the themes of identity, culture and citizenship, Louth’s part in the initiative’s five-year journey began with its plans for 2017. The county boasts a rich tapestry of arts and culture and its Culture and Creativity Plan highlights some of the valuable and positive events planned for this year and beyond. With cultural expression within communities so essential, this fostering of culture and creativity is an important pathway toward people’s participation in civic dialogue.

The county boasts a rich tapestry of arts and culture and its Culture and Creativity Plan highlights some of the valuable and positive events planned from 2018-2022.

A host of projects and initiatives have taken place in Louth since 2017, from a Midsummer’s Artisan Market in Drogheda to the annual harp festival An Chúirt Chruitireachta, a visual arts residency and new school of music at An Táin Arts Centre, Dundalk, and storytelling initiatives and workshops at local libraries too.
