Mincéars Whiden Young Traveller Women Talking is a project of WTCDP. Waterford Traveller Community Development Project CLG (WTCDP) is a Traveller-led organisation and was established in 2002. Most of the Management committee are drawn from the Traveller community and direct the work of WTCDP which works daily to improve the quality of life for all Travellers in Waterford.

As part of our overall work to support the community WTCDP established The Traveller heritage project which highlights the importance of identity and sense of belonging and pride for people and promotes Traveller ethnicity in the wider community.

The Podcast project Mincéars Whiden - Young Traveller Women Talking is an exciting new initiative run with the support of the Central Library and Creative Waterford. It involves creating a series of podcasts with young women members of the Traveller community in Waterford. Four young women agreed to tell their stories in a series of podcasts. The women have recently completed a two-year Community Development & Leadership course and have taken up leadership roles within the community.

This project aims to dispel the stereotypes that are attributed to Traveller women and showcase the powerful leadership qualities and skills that members of the Traveller community in Waterford hold.

All interviews have been completed and the project is entering its final phase i.e. the editing and production of the podcast.
