Pianist Eoin Dowd plays Debussy.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>King House was built in 1730 as the seat of the King Family, a powerful landowning dynasty. The house later became a military barracks and recruiting depot for the famous Irish regiment of the British army, the Connaught Rangers. At the end of the Civil War in 1923, the barracks passed into the control of the Irish Free State Army. Following many years as a merchant\u2019s store, King House was saved from demolition in the 1980s and restored to its former Georgian style by Roscommon County Council.<\/p>\n<p>The house is now open as a museum housing many exhibits.\u00a0It is home to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinghouse.ie\/new-page-4\/\">Connaught Rangers museum<\/a>, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinghouse.ie\/mcaleese-collection\/\">McAleese Collection<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinghouse.ie\/boyle-civic-art-collection\/\">Boyle Civic Art Collection<\/a>, a tribute to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinghouse.ie\/maureen-osullivan\/\">Maureen O&#8217;Sullivan<\/a>, a look at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinghouse.ie\/gaelic-ireland\/\">Gaelic Ireland<\/a> and it also houses an exhibit to its time as home to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kinghouse.ie\/new-page-2\/\">King Family<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>King House is open annually to the public from April to the end of September, however due to Covid 19 restrictions\u00a0the website should be visited for the latest updates on opening times.<\/p>\n<p>King House is fully accessible to wheelchair users,\u00a0with an elevator between floors.<\/p>\n<p>A tour of the house takes approximately 60 minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Audio Packs are available for self-guided tours.<\/p>\n<p>During peak season, we also host guided tours throughout the week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":10881,"template":"","class_list":["post-10880","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>King House Boyle Virtual Tour - Creative Ireland Programme<\/title>\n<meta name=\"description\" content=\"A virtual tour of King House Boyle, created in response to Covid-19 to open the house virtually.\" \/>\n<meta name=\"robots\" content=\"index, follow, max-snippet:-1, max-image-preview:large, max-video-preview:-1\" \/>\n<link rel=\"canonical\" href=\"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/king-house-boyle-virtual-tour\/\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:locale\" content=\"en_US\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:type\" content=\"article\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:title\" content=\"King House Boyle Virtual Tour - Creative Ireland Programme\" \/>\n<meta property=\"og:description\" content=\"A virtual tour of King House Boyle, created in response to Covid-19 to open the house virtually.
