{"id":11102,"date":"2020-09-19T03:04:33","date_gmt":"2020-09-19T02:04:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/event\/feasibility-study-cavan-diaspora-archive\/"},"modified":"2020-09-19T03:04:33","modified_gmt":"2020-09-19T02:04:33","slug":"feasibility-study-cavan-diaspora-archive","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/feasibility-study-cavan-diaspora-archive\/","title":{"rendered":"Feasibility Study: Cavan Diaspora Archive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Cavan Genealogy Centre will conduct a feasibility study to determine the archival value of the Cavan Diaspora Archive and how best to manage, exploit and make it available.\u00a0This large archive has been created as a result of the research service provided by the Centre.\u00a0From the early 1990s the Centre began to receive enquiries from people all over the world wishing to trace their Cavan ancestry.\u00a0The enquiries are varied in nature and provide much genealogical, family, and personal information, not only through records left by the emigrants themselves but through oral and written family history passed down through the generations. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The feasibility study will seek to:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>examine and outline the volume, extent, and academic\/community\/diasporic value of the archive<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>consider and describe the current storage methods and accessibility<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>examine by sample digitization the text readable and text searchable possibilities of the archive in compliance with data protection legislation<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>determine and recommend, from the extent of the archive and from the sample digitisation, the best course of action to include the worthiness and size of the task involved and the timescale, methods and estimate of costs to complete and continually maintain <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":11103,"template":"","class_list":["post-11102","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v25.9 -
