{"id":11536,"date":"2020-10-14T03:01:59","date_gmt":"2020-10-14T02:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/event\/re-dial-a-seanachai\/"},"modified":"2020-10-14T03:01:59","modified_gmt":"2020-10-14T02:01:59","slug":"re-dial-a-seanachai","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/re-dial-a-seanachai\/","title":{"rendered":"Re-Dial a Seanacha\u00ed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><span><span><span><span>In the early 1980s, Clare Arts Office created Dial a Seanacha\u00ed, an initiative whereby members of the public could dial a number on their telephone and listen to local Seanacha\u00eds tell a story and play the odd tune.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>2020 sees local hip-hop artist John Lillis seeking to reinvent this project in conjunction with Clare Arts Office and gl\u00f3r. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>John proposes to record some of Ireland\u2019s greatest storytellers and musicians, whose music is rooted in stories. Departing from the traditional &#8216;seanacha\u00ed,&#8217; this project will explore how traditional stories weave their way into the inspiration of contemporary musicians across a range of genres \u2013 traditional, folk, hip-hop, contemporary including Ian Lynch of Lankum (see image)\u00a0 and Lisa O\u2019Neill. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>The musicians \/ performers will be recorded and their recordings will then be made available to members of the public to ring a number to hear them.
