The Cork’s historic past augmented reality app will creatively engage people in Cork\u2019s built heritage and archaeology. Innovative digital interpretation will help bring Cork\u2019s past to life and enhance people\u2019s understanding of Cork\u2019s heritage and past. The app will be available to all to download free of charge and will create new ways to understand the city and is history.<\/p>\n
A series of markers will be located in the city centre, focussing on a number of\u00a0 historic streetscapes and buildings centred around St. Patrick’s St.\u00a0When users scan the marker, it will open up on their phone an image of how that street, building etc looked in the previous century.\u00a0 Archival photos or paintings and old film footage will be layered onto the current image from the same vantage point allowing users to travel back in time and see the site as it was and how it has changed.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The project is intended to be phase one of\u00a0a new collaboration between Cork City Council and UCC, which will see the app extended to other historical sites and uses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":11570,"template":"","class_list":["post-11569","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
