Midland Amenity Park CLG was founded in 2008 to develop the old \u2018Cow Park\u2019, a 27-acre plot of land beside D\u00fan na S\u00ed<\/span> itself. This was traditionally a field available to locals for free<\/span> grazing of livestock. Over the past twelve years, the old grazing grounds have been developed into an Amenity Park for the community and has become a hub, showcasing an existing community wildlife<\/span> sanctuary which has presented an opportunity to combine<\/span> environmental, heritage, cultural, educational and traditional<\/span> aspects of Irish life, all in one place. Since completion, it has<\/span> become a facility for all ages and cultural backgrounds within<\/span> the midland\u2019s region.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Midland Amenity Park Mural will be located on an open wall within our heritage park. The mural will tell the story of living in rural Ireland through time, showing our nations strengths, culture, heritage and way of life through work, music, and dance, creatively painted onto a wall, 34 metre long X 10 foot high<\/p>\n

We have 3 local artists:<\/p>\n

Patsy Preston<\/span><\/strong>, Artistic Director, Rose Finnerty<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>, Athlone muralist and community artist<\/span><\/span><\/span>
Kara<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0Richards,<\/strong>\u00a0Celtic knotwork artist, musician and author- illustrator of the book\u201d How Athlone got its name\u201d.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
