{"id":12119,"date":"2020-11-07T03:02:20","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T03:02:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/event\/na-cailleacha\/"},"modified":"2020-11-07T03:02:20","modified_gmt":"2020-11-07T03:02:20","slug":"na-cailleacha","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/na-cailleacha\/","title":{"rendered":"Na Cailleacha"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A collective project involving 7 women artists over 70 and one musician aged 64, at Ballinglen Arts Foundation, County Mayo, September 1 \u201330, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><span><span>A group of women, mainly over 70, all engaged in a discourse about the issues that women artists and musicians face as they move into this phase of their working lives. This takes the form of interdisciplinary collaborations, cross fertilisation of ideas ranging across a wide variety of practices in a supportive environment, for artists who increasingly work in isolation.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span>The collective will explore issues such\u00a0as health, death, sexuality, isolation, visibility, feminism and issues specific to their individual work practices.<\/span><\/span><span><span> They have been invited to engage with the local community and have programmed a series of events to facilitate this. They are planning a collective artwork to mark their collaboration and to relate their presence to the landscape, history and mythology of the area.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span>The Ballinglen Arts Foundation is an inspiring base for them to work with, two of their members are existing fellows of it, and they can use the full range of facilities offered by the foundation, including a well-equipped print room, a library and a newly opened museum.
