Butler Gallery will host an exhibition of the work of photographer Richard Mosse from June\u00a0to August 2021. The topic of this exhibition will be migration, in particular the pathways chosen by refugees and migrants moving from Africa and the Middle East towards Europe. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In conjunction with the exhibition, Butler Gallery would like visitors to know more about the people who in reality had to go through such experiences. Migrants and refugees are often purely seen as a statistic in newspapers or on TV, however, behind each number is a person with a very personal story. It is important that these people\u2019s experiences are known and understood to raise awareness and compassion within wider Irish society.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Butler Gallery aims to work with the Fr McGrath Family Resource Centre to create a project in which people who have migrated or had to seek refugee status in Ireland can tell their stories through personal objects or photos. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The gallery will commission a professional photographer\/videographer to advise and assist participants in making images of their objects. All photographs taken would have a short descriptive text (4-5 sentences) written by the owner of that work explaining why the object is important to them and what it signifies. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
