Partners SUAS, NPWS &\u00a0Coillte – Phase 1 – A five year\u00a0pilot project with the\u00a0key objective of\u00a0developing practical and innovative solutions that will address the complex agriculture, environmental and socio-economical challenges associated with the land management of commonages and hill farms in the Wicklow \/ Dublin uplands so as to ensure the sustainable management of the\u00a0unique natural habitats the area is renowned for.<\/p>\n
The projects goals are extensive and it is anticipated that it will result in an increase in the number of sheep on the\u00a0hills and an extension to the grazing period over the coming years.\u00a0 This will be achieved through increasing the ecological and productive value of these habitats. Improvement of biodiversity, the protection of water quality, training on best practice in relation to controlled burning\u00a0\u00a0and maintaining recreational access are also key components and will be developed by integrating environmental and farming activities into a single management plan.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":15026,"template":"","class_list":["post-15025","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
