This project, led by the Maharees Conservation Association, aims to make the local community and visitors aware of this Natura 2000 site and its status as an Area of Special Conservation (with 50%+ of Ireland’s natterjack toad population & rare flora like\u00a0the bee orchid & petalwort).<\/p>\n

To do this, visual art pieces will be installed in areas of high footfall which will\u00a0build pride in the area’s\u00a0rich heritage and a creative\u00a0land art and movement performance will be developed and recorded, which\u00a0will celebrate the beauty of the area’s salt marsh habitat\u00a0and create an enduring record of this vulnerable habitat for future generations, as it is likely this area will be effected by\u00a0rising sea levels brought about by climate change.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
