The show follows her long struggle to gain recognition as a vet due to the misogynistic attitude of the Royal Council of Veterinary Surgeons who refused to allow her to sit for her professional diploma. She was employed by Roscommon vet, William Byrne, but met with strong local opposition in Athleague where she worked for 20 years.
