{"id":19621,"date":"2022-06-21T03:02:50","date_gmt":"2022-06-21T02:02:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/event\/plant-tastic-inspired-by-nature\/"},"modified":"2022-06-21T03:02:50","modified_gmt":"2022-06-21T02:02:50","slug":"plant-tastic-inspired-by-nature","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/plant-tastic-inspired-by-nature\/","title":{"rendered":"Plant-tastic: Inspired by Nature"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><span><span><span>London based designer &amp; public artist Cristina Ottonello engages with up 10 young people aged 12 &#8211; 14 on the Ashbrooke, Chesterfield Close and McAuley estates in Birr exploring a range of Offaly plants and their usefulness. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span><span>With a local botanist, the artist and participants through a period of creative research investigate the extraordinary characteristics of local plants, and how these plants have and can inspire innovation and creativity. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span>A specific number of \u2018hero\u2019 plants will be identified and the botanical features\/components that have biomimetic and adaptation features will be creatively replicated\/re-interpreted through crafting processes, including reusable and recyclable materials. These specific features will be magnified in scale to explore the textures, shapes and unique elements to their botanical structure.
