Youth Day offers a full roster of interactive workshops for young people aged 12\u201318. All workshops <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>will be delivered by the highly skilled musicians of The Irish Institute of Music and Song<\/a>,\u00a0are accessible to those without a musical background and aim to normalise creativity as a pursuit within the lives of those who attend.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Percussion Workshop with Andy Dempsey <\/strong>(45 minutes)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
We emphasise participation and creativity in our drum circles and ask for input, leadership and creative direction from our participating drummers. Everyone is given a chance to play and be heard playing.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ukulele Workshop with Sorcha Fenlon <\/strong>(45 minutes)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
Ukulele is a hugely accessible instrument thanks to its size, simplicity and low cost.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
Our teaching methods lean on cognitive theory and group dynamics to get everybody<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0playing together in no time.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Music Production Seminar with Hugh Clarke <\/strong>(1 hour)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
In this seminar, our demonstrator Hugh will demystify the process of producing modern pop music to the artists of the future. Participants will be encouraged to record their own voices, claps and sound effects before watching Hugh assemble them into a musical masterpiece.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Music as a Career Seminar with Sarah May Rogers <\/strong>(1 hour)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>
Creative careers are essential to our wider community.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span>In this short presentation, we aim to showcase some of Ireland\u2019s best working musicians in the fields of music technology, music therapy, education, live performance and more.<\/p>\n
