{"id":20558,"date":"2022-07-07T03:02:32","date_gmt":"2022-07-07T02:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/event\/maire-mhac-an-tsaoi-poetry-in-irish-award\/"},"modified":"2022-07-07T03:02:32","modified_gmt":"2022-07-07T02:02:32","slug":"maire-mhac-an-tsaoi-poetry-in-irish-award","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/maire-mhac-an-tsaoi-poetry-in-irish-award\/","title":{"rendered":"M\u00e1ire Mhac an tSaoi &#8211; Poetry in Irish Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>M\u00e1ire Mhac an tSaoi <span>\u2013 Poetry in Irish Award<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>In honour of M\u00e1ire Mhac an tSaoi, 1922-2021, <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span>Meath County Council Cultural Services are pleased to announce the establishment of the M\u00e1ire Mhac an tSaoi Poetry in Irish Award<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><strong><span><span><span>DETAILS: <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>The award consists of a one-day Master Class with Louis de Paor for five participants. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>There is no application form. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Closing date: Friday 27th May, 2022 at 5.00 p.m. and is open to practitioners of Irish language poetry on the island of Ireland. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Applicants must be over 18 years of age. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><strong><span><span><span><span>Applicants should be able to show commitment and achievement in their chosen field. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>M\u00e1ire Mhac an tSaoi was one of Ireland\u2019s foremost Irish language poets. Her <span>collections include <em>Codladh an Ghaisc\u00edgh<\/em>, 1973, <em>An Galar Dubhach<\/em>, 1980 (both Sairs\u00e9al agus Dill), <em>An cion go dt\u00ed seo<\/em> (Collected Poems, published in 1987) and <em>Shoah agus Danta eile,<\/em> 1999 (both Sairs\u00e9al \u00d3 Marcaigh).
