Laois artist, Deborah Corcoran’s initiative Bearings<\/em> is a\u00a0collaborative response – residency that engages with \u2018sense of place\u2019\u00a0and the parameters of working on a farm in Laois.<\/p>\n

Deborah has worked with her father and brother on their farm in\u00a0Ballyroan, Co Laois. They repurposed materials to build on a marginal\u00a0space on the farm – creating an active space for creative\u00a0collaborations. Bearings<\/em> is an extension of that work asking artists\u00a0to respond to the locality.<\/p>\n

Three artists Colm Keady-Tabbal, Aisling-\u00d3r N\u00ed Aodha and Chloe\u00a0Reynolds are invited to a short-term residency programme grounded in\u00a0rural Laois. The farm will be used as an introductory site to examine\u00a0the local area and will extend into the community and close by towns\u00a0and villages.<\/p>\n

Local people & communities in the Ballyroan area are introduced to the\u00a0artists and provide inspiration for Colm Keady-Tabbal ‘s sound piece;\u00a0Aisling-\u00d3r N\u00ed Aodha’s written piece; and Chloe Reynolds’ performative\u00a0object intervention, as well as the physical farm itself.<\/p>\n

The works will be available to the public via the\u00a0\u2018Bearings2022\u2019 Instagram<\/a> account on 13 August from 6-7pm.<\/p>\n
