It started in spring 2019 when we both realised our visual arts practices have very similar themes and research interests. Both of our practices reflect on and engage with the psychological and physical<\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<span><span><span>aspects (psychosomatic) of both the human and animal condition &#8211; investigating\u00a0humans, animals and also the similarities, comparisons and contradictions\u00a0between humans and animals.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>Celine is using Creative Ireland funding to purchase materials and skilled production for two artworks. The first is a floor based Rug artwork based on her drawings of the female body and produced by an Irish rug making company.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>The second is an installation artwork called \u2018Dummy\u2019 that consists of a wrestling dummy, bespoke shelving, Peace Lily plants, dried Placenta Capsules and other objects. This work is based on the artists interest in researching gender roles and mothering within the domestic space.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span>Mel is currently commencing research and engagement with animatronic specialists ,Adam Keenan with the intention of realising two specific works.
