She has been making puppets since her first rag doll, aged 10. Corina became ill with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) 24 years ago. The increasing limitations imposed by her illness have taken a toll on Corina\u2019s creative life and continue to present significant challenges to her making art. \u201cBut there is always a way.\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Now, in collaboration with her co-artist Caroline Schofield, and with the support of Creative Waterford and Waterford Healing Arts Trust (WHAT), Corina will present her exhibition I Brought the Dream of Flying<strong> <\/strong>at GOMA Gallery of Modern Art in Waterford. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span><span><span>Inspired by her broken-winged bird puppet which accompanied Corina when she moved to nursing home care in 2021, the exhibition features work made in response to this move and illustrates the new collaborative creative process she has had to develop with Caroline as a result of her increasing disability. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span><span lang=\"RU\" xml:lang=\"RU\"><span><span>\u201c<\/span><\/span><\/span><span><span><span>This work is ambitious. It takes more energy and physical ability than I have: the thinking, planning, execution. I am determined to<em> <\/em>succeed, but I have come to accept that I must rely on my co-artist. She is my hands.
