{"id":22763,"date":"2022-11-11T03:02:12","date_gmt":"2022-11-11T03:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/event\/corks-unique-motor-heritage\/"},"modified":"2022-11-11T03:02:12","modified_gmt":"2022-11-11T03:02:12","slug":"corks-unique-motor-heritage","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/corks-unique-motor-heritage\/","title":{"rendered":"Cork&#8217;s Unique Motor Heritage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This cultural project is bringing together Cork communities to celebrate and retrace the steps of Cork Motorsport Heritage from the beginnings of the Carrigrohane straight in 1844; to the 1930s when it became an International Formula One circuit, holding the largest motorsports event ever staged in Ireland; to the 1980s when it hosted a world record breaking event, the fastest mile recorded in history; to today where the spirit and passion still grows and continues to bring thrills and spills to the people of Cork.<\/p>\n<p>This project will use 15 free standing exhibition panels, 3 pull ups and 2 posters, an extensive display of private and motor club artefacts and memorabilia, a private miniature motor collection and plans to launch with a vintage motorcar display which includes the world record holding motorbike for the fastest mile. The exhibition will tour Cork City Library branches for 3 months.<\/p>\n<p>An additional part of this project is the participation of the younger communities through technology, delivering 3D printing workshops &#8216;building your own bike\/car&#8217; and learning through illustration and colour. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Digitisation of the images and memorabilia to create an archive of Cork motor history will complete this project with the creation of flip books of some club journals and historical photographs and postcard keepsakes of images.
