A dlr Stair Sc\u00e9al Trail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following on from our popular <em>dlr Sc\u00e9al Trails <\/em>outdoor story walks initiative, we are delighted to introduce our first dlr Stair Sc\u00e9al Trail. This is a way of introducing historical events that have a local flavour and significance, to a wider audience of schoolchildren, families and others living in and visiting D\u00fan Laoghaire-Rathdown.<\/p>\n<p>The children&#8217;s book <em><strong>RMS Leinster &#8211; the forgotten tragedy,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>written by Carmel U\u00ed Cheallaigh, has been converted into a Stair Sc\u00e9al Trail. It tells the story of the City of Dublin Steam Packet Company steamship, the\u00a0<em>RMS Leinster,\u00a0<\/em>that was torpedoed at the end of World War One, off the coast of D\u00fan Laoghaire, with the loss of 569 lives, including\u00a0military personnel and civilians, postal workers and crew, from all over the world. The sinking resulted in the greatest ever loss of life in the Irish Sea.<\/p>\n<p>The Stair Sc\u00e9al Trail will be installed in the grounds of dlr LexIcon in D\u00fan Laoghaire in late February\/early March 2023, not far from the site of the RMS Leinster memorial at Carlisle Pier.
