The Dungarvan Library in county Waterford is partnering with Waterford Artist Shona Shirley MacDonald to design and install a mural in the children<\/span><\/span><\/span>‘<\/span><\/span><\/span>s section of the Library. Shona lives in the De<\/span><\/span><\/span>i<\/span><\/span><\/span>se Gaeltacht of Co<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span>Waterford<\/span><\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span><\/span>her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally and she has created and collaborated on numerous award winning books. Shona will create a night-time seascape mu<\/span><\/span><\/span>r<\/span><\/span><\/span>al, filled with magic<\/span><\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span><\/span>moonlight and lanterns<\/span><\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/span>The mural will bring the outside view of Dungarvan Bay into the library and enhance a space that is well used by <\/span><\/span><\/span>familie<\/span><\/span><\/span>s <\/span><\/span><\/span>and schools from the surrounding area as well as community groups such as Shakti Women’s group, art classes,<\/span> chair<\/span> Yoga and<\/span> dancing<\/span> classes.<\/span> The<\/span> Library’s therapeutic sensory<\/span> table<\/span> is<\/span> situated<\/span> in front<\/span> of<\/span> the <\/span>mural<\/span><\/span><\/span>; <\/span><\/span><\/span>it is hoped that this piece of art will inspire creativity and imagination in library users.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Shona will be delivering a workshop along the theme of this mural creation and installation, booking for this workshops will be available through Dungarvan Library and will be advertised on\u00a0Waterford City & County Library Services<\/a> website and social media.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
