This project is designed to introduce people to the culinary delights of the shore – seaweed, sea plants and shellfish, culminating in a foraged dinner which will be \u2018designed\u2019 by the participants, who will be invited to be as inventive as they can be with the food they gather.<\/p>\n
\nThe project is also designed to educate participants on the rich foraging and oyster-growing history of the Burren bay where the foraging will take place, the ethics of foraging, and how a
\ncommunity group are bringing the endangered native oyster back to the bay.
\nParticipants will gain a basic knowledge of shoreline foraging, its importance to our forefathers, the history of the bays of The Burren, and the culinary possibilities of foraged shoreline food.<\/p>\n
Three two-hour long shore walks will be held on 28th , 29th and 30th June, followed by a cook-and-eat evening on Friday 30th June which will be open to all participants and members of the
\npublic.<\/p>\n
The walks will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm each day, on the final day a foraging cooking workshop will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 pm followed by an opportunity to dine on the finished meals from 5:00 – 9:00 pm.\u00a0<\/p>\n
