Our festival supports the continuance of this tradition with a series of events including concerts, singing sessions, street performances, \u2018spoken word\u2019 with maritime themes, workshops, talks &amp; nautical demonstrations; water based events and family and novelty events.<\/span><\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\"><span>The Festival is the longest running shanty festival in Ireland and over the years has engaged with other maritime festivals regarding programme organisation and encouraged the formation of shanty singing groups. In Sligo alone 4 shanty groups were formed arising from involvement with the festival and we continue to seek out \u2018home talent\u2019 \u2013 we have groups from Waterford, Dublin and Leitrim performing with us this year.
