Sligo Northside Take 1 is a new innovative project that will see Sligo Northside Film Project commission and produce a short film\/television pilot in Sligo town this summer.
\n\u2018Northside Stories\u2019 is a short television comedy that has been incubated by filmmaker Sinead Dolan and comedian John Colleary. Set in the Northside community centre and Sligo town, the story centres around two old school friends, Mairead and Derek who reconnect in their 50\u2019s. They bond over long-lost teenage dreams, living back home and dealing with septuagenarian parental interference, while navigating the slim pickings of the over-50\u2019s dating scene in Sligo.
\nSinead has dedicated her time and her expertise in the development of our Film Project.\u00a0We now want to support, give back and foster her project, just as she has encouraged and supported many participants in the Northside over the past 8 years and in the wider Sligo community in the past 15 years. Given the participatory nature of all her work, this project will have a far-reaching effect and will have much involvement from the wider community. As film is multi-faceted, there is scope for community involvement in creative, technical, artistic, practical roles to working in costume, art department, set design, props, videography,music, sound design, location management, producing and performance.
