\u200b\u200bAs part of a new initiative in the arts and in collaboration with Portumna Arts Group and the Portumna Pen Pushers Group, the Irish Workhouse Centre will host a 5-day writing workshop on site, facilitated by Gerard Hanberry, Galway poet, writer and musician.<\/p>\n
The participants, in an open invitation from the local community will include both new and established writers. Following an introductory tour of the Irish Workhouse Centre, the group will meet for a number of sessions under the guidance of Gerry and a series of writings on the Workhouse and the museum artefacts will be then edited and published alongside a series of photographs of the inspiring pieces that each participant selected from the Workhouse. These will be edited by Gerry and become a part of the Workhouse collection. A reading will also take place to launch the publication.\u200b\u00a0<\/p>\n
