Flower board crafting is part of the cultural heritage of Hong Kong. Large colourful and festive boards are commonly seen on occasions like traditional festivals and shop openings. Cantonese in Ireland are inviting the Irish public to share in Cantonese heritage, participate in the process of making flower boards and gain a deeper understanding of this Cantonese tradition through three events:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Workshop on Miniature Flower Board Marking – In this workshop, participants will learn about the history and the craftsmanship of Cantonese flower boards and will get hands-on experience in making a miniature flower board to bring home. Sticks and wires, red clothes and paper flowers will be used.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Workshop on the Flower Board Crafting Technique – This workshop will introduce the history and the craftsmanship of Cantonese flower boards, which use wooden\/ bamboo poles detailed with dragon, phoenix and cloud patterns. The participants in this workshop will make flower boards together.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Photo Exhibition ‘Cantonese Flower Boards in Ireland’ – The photo exhibition will display images taken in the two flower board workshops and will showcase the large flower boards made by participants.
