Join the Courthouse Gallery on Thursday, July 18, 2024, for “Ennistymon ’84: A Legacy Revisited,” celebrating the 40th anniversary of the landmark community arts project that transformed Ennistymon. This event honours the original 1984 initiative, which sparked a cultural renaissance and demonstrated the power of the arts in community development.<\/span><\/p>\n

The day will begin at the Courthouse Gallery with a historical tour of significant project sites, followed by a roundtable discussion with the original organisers of Ennistymon ’84. This gathering will provide a unique opportunity to reflect on the project’s lasting impact and explore its relevance in addressing contemporary challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

Participants can then engage in a collaborative art workshop, drawing inspiration from archived materials and discussions to create new artworks that capture the spirit and legacy of Ennistymon ’84. The day will conclude with an optional dinner, providing further opportunity for connection and reflection.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through digitising and publishing original catalogues and photographs on our blog, we aim to preserve and share the rich history of Ennistymon ’84, making it accessible to a new generation.
