Art Therapy is a tool used to help individuals to interpret and express emotions or feelings.\u00a0 It can help participants to work through their thoughts and reach new understandings about themselves.\u00a0 Art Therapy is about the process, engaging with the materials and is ultimately not about \u2018how good\u2019 the finished art piece is.\u00a0 With the focus being placed squarely on the process, Art Therapy is open to everyone, regardless of ability or skill.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ballybane Library will host a series of Art Therapy sessions. \u00a0 Each block of Art Therapy sessions will be tailored to encompass different groups of women that make up Galway City Eastside Community.\u00a0 Ballybane is a vibrant community with a strong Traveller population, as well as lifelong residents and an ever-growing multicultural community. We propose that each block of Art Therapy sessions will use different art techniques and mediums and will result in participants having a physical memento of their creative journey.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each Art Therapy session will be focused on different topics or themes.\u00a0 Themes identified include sessions dealing with:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  2. <\/span><\/strong>Finding Yourself<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n
