This course builds a strong foundation in heritage by teaching participants how to interpret their local landscape through natural, built, and cultural heritage\u2014covering archaeology, architecture, genealogy, geology, biodiversity, and more. <\/p>\n
Delivered in partnership with Clare County Council and LCETB, it prioritises early school leavers, community advocates, and heritage enthusiasts. Participants gain knowledge of local resources, skills in heritage research, and the ability to contribute to Clare iCAN. The course also supports identifying heritage-based employment opportunities. Learning is shared with the wider community, including the Diaspora, leaving a lasting digital legacy.<\/p>\n
Supported by the Irish Community Archive Network (iCAN), participants are trained in writing for the web, digitisation, cataloguing, oral recording, and creative media. They create and manage content\u2014text, images, video, and sound\u2014for the Clare iCAN website. This innovative, sustainable approach ensures universal access to Clare\u2019s unique heritage and strengthens community connection, with potential benefits for heritage, community development, and tourism.<\/p>\n
