This summer, young musicians from Athy College will engage with Made of Athy, to receive mentorship from music veterans such as Jack L as part of an inter-generational, inter-cultural music project. This will culminate in a number of live shows, including the Forest Fest on July 25-27, and an album. <\/p>\n
The Made Of Athy project celebrates the town of Athy and its diaspora. It has worked with many musicians whose family came from the area. This culminated in last year\u2019s Johnny Marr gig at Dreamland Ballroom, where his parent\u2019s met.<\/p>\n
This summer, the young musicians will play the canon of music of the Made of Athy project, learning songs and exploring the Athy connections with renowned bands such as The Smiths, The Stone Roses, The Divine Comedy and more.<\/p>\n
