This winter, Suisha Inclusive Arts is bringing new life to its powerful \u201cProtest Song\u201d – a creative work rooted in themes of disability rights, inspired by the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the EU\u2019s \u201cUnion of Equality\u201d framework.<\/p>\n
Originally co-created by musician Eoin Nash with intellectually disabled artists, and first performed in Suisha\u2019s 2024 theatre production Home Sweet Home<\/em>, the song has since gained international recognition, including an invitation to perform at the United Nations Office in Vienna by the Zero Project.<\/p>\n In preparation for this opportunity, artists from across disciplines, including film, music, spoken word, dance, and design, will come together in Cork City this November and December to reimagine the song through a collaborative and inclusive creative process. Intellectually disabled, neurodivergent, and non-disabled artists will work side-by-side to co-create a music video, high-quality audio recording, and an integrated live performance.<\/p>\n Hosted in Horizons\u2019 facilities, including The Orchards and Civic Trust House, and supported by MTU Cork School of Music, this work will feature embedded accessibility such as sign language, captions, and inclusive visuals.
