Plans are underway for an Active Teen Space (ATS) in Doughiska Park \u2013 a play area with small\/medium social facilities near public transport and active travel routes, co\u2011designed with young people. Located beside a new skate park and adjacent to Merlin College, it provides self\u2011directed and passive recreation as a &#8216;teen hub&#8217;.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Creative Ireland funding is sought for a DJ post \u2013 an interactive, LED\u2011lit piece of equipment that plays music from a smartphone via human power, sustainable and weatherproof \u2013 installed in a performance space for young people to play music, socialise, and dance. The ATS was co\u2011designed with Merlin College students (March 2025) and informed by Galway City Comhairle na n\u00d3g engagement; the DJ post was identified by youth as a desired element.
