To explore the Musical Heritage of Castleblayney by involving young people, musicians and their families in reminiscence about the ‘Showbands’ era from the 1950’s to the 1980’s.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project will document and record stories from the period from people who attended the dances, the musicians who played and their families as a social history of the period.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project will collect memorabilia, photos and film from the era and produce an exhibition.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project promoters will produced a play based on the stories collected and by working with actors in devising a theatre production.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project is collaborative involving local amateur actors and creative designers for the play, whilst engaging and working with the community in perserving local history.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The project will harness creativity of the community and make it into an artistic enterprise.
