The aim of this initiative is to collaborate with traditional Irish musicians from Leeds in the UK. In a series of music workshops, outdoor street sessions, talks and presentations, recitals culminating in a final concert. The project coordinators will link in with young musicians from the Ulster Scots tuition programme in Presbyterian schools.\u00a0<\/p>\n
We want to educate and inform our audiences in relation to the rich source of shared art, history and music between our diaspora in Leeds, our mixed community in the Ballybay\/Castleblayney area of County Monaghan.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Three groups have come together to collaborate on this project – Drumlin Comhaltas, Oriel Sailing Club and Leeds Irish Arts Foundation. They will work together on this artistic collaborative project to deliver the following over a weekend during 2019, including the following:<\/p>\n
Series of workshops for young performing musicians from different cultural and religious backgrounds; series of masterclass workshops for more advanced young performers; open air street sessions in the towns of Ballybay and Castleblayney; a recital of traditional and contemporary Irish music at Christ Church Ballybay; a presentation and talk on the rich legacy of traditional and Ulster Scots music in the border counties; a final concert with the young musicians of Ulster Scots, Drumlin Comhaltas and Leeds musicians in a collaborative piece of music together with their tutors and other guests.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":26,"featured_media":8133,"template":"","class_list":["post-8132","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
