Planting for a River God was a public sculptural, communal drawing project with a biodiversity focus. Local Visual artist Maurice Caplice was commissioned to make a River God for a communal\u00a0drawing project\u00a0to tie in with the launch of the River Suir Blueway in May 2019. The concept of Planting for a River God came from the idea in Celtic times of bringing offerings to the Gods. In this project the offerings were Seed bombs, and on the day of the launch the public were invited to repopulate the newly open blueway with native wildflowers. The River God sculpture was on the street in Clonmel and Carrick on Suir in the lead-up to the launch and spent the day of the launch at Kilsheelan wildlife garden where it resided for a number of weeks. Miniature Gods with baskets of seedbombs were dotted along the blueway and ‘Plant Seeds here’ areas were laid out where ground had been disturbed ready to make a colourful display during the summer months.\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":26,"featured_media":8304,"template":"","class_list":["post-8303","event","type-event","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"\n
