{"id":8717,"date":"2020-01-15T08:17:16","date_gmt":"2020-01-15T08:17:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/prod-creativeireland.zestydev.com\/event\/library-look-club-stillorgan-library\/"},"modified":"2020-01-15T08:17:16","modified_gmt":"2020-01-15T08:17:16","slug":"library-look-club-stillorgan-library","status":"publish","type":"event","link":"https:\/\/www.creativeireland.gov.ie\/en\/event\/library-look-club-stillorgan-library\/","title":{"rendered":"Library Look Club &#8211; Stillorgan Library"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span><span><span><span>The Library Look Club is a new approach to accessing and studying art within a library setting, offered in\u00a0Stillorgan Library from April to June 2019. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span>Each fortnight a piece of art, or multiple works by a specific artist, presently on display in the National Gallery of Ireland, was selected for discussion.\u00a0Participants were encouraged to visit the Gallery and view the art before the Look Club meeting. The inclusion of a guided tour of the Gallery at the end of the pilot Club was a huge success and a welcome bonus for the participants.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span>Active engagement with the Arts and Culture helps promote individual well-being and nurtures the creative imagination. The existing extensive collection of art books\u00a0in Stillorgan Library were available as part of the Library Look Club and offered participants the opportunity to utilise\u00a0this resource and further enhance their experience.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span><span><span><span>The Look Club was facilitated by Jessica Fahy, a freelance art historian who has been teaching and researching European Art History for over ten years.
