Tenderfoot\nis the Civic Theatre\u2019s award winning apprentice theatre programme for transition\nyear students in South County Dublin. The ethos of Tenderfoot is one of\napprenticeship, so  \u2018Tenderfeet\u2019 learn\nabout theatre by making theatre. During the programme  young people are introduced to all aspects of\ntheatre \u2013 writing, set design\/ film for theatre, music and sound design,\ncostume design, stage management and acting \u2013 under the guidance of working\ntheatre professionals. The original plays in this programme are all written by\n15\/16 year old playwrights and provide a unique glimpse into the world of our\nyoung people articulating their experience and their reality<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a new development supported by the Creative\nIreland Programme, a research project, IMPACT\n\u2013 TENDERFOOT Going Forward,<\/em> provided research that will enable this\nextraordinary programme of cultural empowerment to be expanded to  include all schools in South Dublin County. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The findings of the research were presented in a public forum that explored professional theatre provision for young adult audiences at all levels including engagement, participation and performance at the Civic Theatre, Tallaght in September 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
