North Atlantic Fiddle Convention (NAFCo) at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance
The Irish World Academy regrets to announce that because of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the event funded by Creative Ireland will now not take place in 2020. NAFCo will now be rescheduled to run from June 23rd to 27th 2021 and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the University of Limerick at that time.
NAFCo features traditions of fiddle music and dance from countries and communities around the North Atlantic, combining performances, workshops and sessions, with an academic conference. This event is a partnership between the University of Limerick and the Limerick City and County Council Arts and Culture Office, funded by Creative Ireland and the Arts Council
As with all NAFCo Conferences, we invite contributions on current/new musical research into fiddle traditions across the world and welcome presentations on any aspect of current research into fiddle music, dance, and closely associated traditions. Members of the wider community are also warmly welcomed to participate in the workshops and concerts.
The 2021 NAFCo theme is Fiddling and its Frontiers: Transforming Practices and Rethinking Questions.
Second part of funding to come from 2021 funding.
