St. Hilda's Services - Connecting to our History

Dates
7th Sep 2020
to 27th Nov 2020

Age Range
All ages

Established in 1964 by the community, St. Hilda’s Services is a voluntary organisation that provides a comprehensive quality service to people with mild, moderate and severe intellectual disabilities. Mainly based in Athlone our services benefit in excess of 120 service users and their families. St. Hilda’s unique governing structure which is predominantly parents and families of service users ensures that the care of people within the service always comes first.

We work closely with staff, volunteers, CE workers and transition year students in Dún Na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park as we work on various different projects and volunteer for event days such as Family Fun Day, Spooktacular and Christmas Experience.

We are hoping to make a connection with our history booklet about some of the old items in Dún Na Sí Amenity & Heritage park or if anyone has an item at home they wish to find the history to and document. We will distribute these booklets to the general public. Rosemarie Langtry (local artist), staff in Dún Na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park and a member of Moate Historical Society.

The book will be a collaboration of everyone’s work. One to one time will be given to each service user at all times to ensure safety at these strange times.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
