Art Beat

Young adults from National Learning Network will have the opportunity to try a broad range of creative media culminating in an exhibition of talent at a local venue in Dundalk.

A local artist will deliver classes in watercolours, drawing, collage, ceramics and acrylics.

As part of their regular day in National Learning Network staff will also support students to take part in craft activities including knitting, sewing and card making etc.

Participants will be supported to develop their creative talents.  Before the end of October, the group will then organise and host an exhibition in a local venue showcasing their creative art work.

A music facilitator will deliver drumming sessions in the lead up to a performance at the opening night of the Art/ Creative Exhibition.

The students will be involved in every part of the process from the hands on art work, craftmaking, drumming and organising venue - setting up and hosting exhibition, organising invitations to broad range of people within the community – employers, other special needs group, schools, families, other art groups.

The purpose of this event is to strengthen connections between people with disabilities and the broader community in Louth.  It will offer a space for shared experiences and mutual respect, while also helping to educate others about the diverse way people communicate and express themselves. When people come together through art/music, barriers between different groups can dissolve, fostering inclusivity.

Please note that the details of events listed above are provided by the relevant Local Authorities.
