Capturing Lives and Creating a Community

This digital storytelling project invites members of the Ballina Dragons to embark on a deeply personal and creative journey—one that honours lived experience, fosters connection, and amplifies individual voices. Designed for women aged 40 to 70+, the programme offers a safe and supportive space to explore, write, and share personal stories, using technology to bring those narratives to life.

Over ten sessions, participants will craft and refine their stories, combining words, images, sound, and video to create compelling digital pieces. With guidance in writing, editing, and digital formatting, each member will produce a story that reflects their unique perspective, while also contributing to a collective tapestry of experience and insight.

The process is rooted in empathy, imagination, and community. Through storytelling, participants build relationships, strengthen their sense of belonging, and engage in meaningful dialogue around topics such as recovery, mental health, autism awareness, and health promotion. These stories will be shared within the group and, ideally, with the wider community through exhibitions, screenings at venues like the Art Centre or Jackie Clarke Collection, and on social media platforms.

Digital storytelling transforms personal reflection into public awareness. It empowers individuals to become creators, communicators, and active voices in their community—bridging generations, sparking conversation, and inspiring change.
