Voices of the Hedgerows – Creative Writing

As part of the Connecting Kerry’s Wildlife: Hedgerows and Trees in the Kingdom, 2025 project, join Susan Browne in these creative writing workshops,

Are you passionate about nature? Do you love to write? Join this exciting project where you’ll attend 3 free workshops to create a poem/short story/creative prose/flash fiction or such to celebrate Kerry’s hedgerows and trees. All levels of writing experience welcome.

In these workshops you will:

  • Learn and share about the importance of Kerry’s trees and hedgerows for biodiversity, including their role as habitats and wildlife corridors.
  • Be invited to write creatively about hedgerows and trees using a range of nature-themed prompts.
  • Experiment with different styles and forms of creative writing.
  • Receive tips and guidance on editing your work to bring out its best.
  • Create a piece to contribute to a group collection celebrating and responding to the project’s theme: Connecting Kerry’s Wildlife.
The 'Connecting Kerry’s Wildlife' project is led by Kerry County Council and Crainn Chiarraí, and funded by Creative Communities, Creative Ireland. Booking essential. Spaces limited.
