Workshops will take place in Care homes for the elderly. The workshops will have 3 main activities.
- Reactivate a learned language - Play an Irish memory game which has 20 various nouns with pictures and need to be matched.
- Use a familiar game to converse 100% in Irish (Bingo), " uimhir a ceathair Duin an doras"
- Irish Song & Art & storytelling : facilitate the listening and singing of a known Irish verse which is then symbolised by being printed by each participant using a Linoprint technique from pre-cut designs. (This acts as a certificate and incentive to rekindle the Irish language through song and the recalling of stories or experiences based on the Heritage of Carlow, that would hopefully result in a weekly storytelling session/or singing session where grandchildren and parents, neighbours are welcomed to join.
The staff will observe the workshop and when it is finished can facilitate the playing of the game once a week.
