Creativity, Community, Lighting Policy and the Night Sky
This project celebrates and supports the Mayo Dark Skies community in documenting and sharing the incredible work they’ve been doing - and continue to do - in partnership with Mayo County Council, the Heritage Council, and many other stakeholders. Their dedication has led to the successful bid to host the ALAN (Artificial Light at Night) Conference in Mayo in 2025, followed by the Dark Skies Festival.
This Autumn there will be a rich programme of events and creative activities led by experts from the international dark skies community, alongside local artists, scientists, and community groups.
For those who can’t attend in person, Creative Mayo is supporting digital storytelling and documentation, making it possible for anyone interested to follow along, learn more, and experience the creativity and inspiring work happening across Mayo to protect and celebrate our beautiful night skies.
